Toshiba Corp. has revealed that it will start to build solar plants in Japan. The plants will have a total generating capacity of 100 megawatts and will likely be ready by 2014.
The company says that it will spend about US$379.6 million to build numerous solar plants in Minami Soma, a region that is just 25km from the Fukushima nuclear plant that was heavily damaged during last year's Japanese earthquake.
The Japanese government recently approved new incentives for renewable energy, through the welcoming of feed-in tariffs.
