WIND Mobile has appointed Pietro Cordova, now formerly of Wind Telecommunicazioni SpA, as its new Chief Operating Officer. He will take over for Gianluca Corti, who will move on to run Wind Telecommunicazioni's Consumer Business division.
Before joining WIND in 2005, Cordova had senior leadership roles at Atlantia Group and Telecom Italia.
The company says that Cordova "understands the nuances of the Canadian market," having lived and worked in Toronto from 1991 to 1998. It also notes that Cordova will be charged with maintaining "the same successful strategy" that WIND has been working with - this includes focusing on postpaid wireless customers, customer care, and ensuring high-level network quality.
"Pietro brings a wealth of experience, accomplishments and enthusiasm to the role of Chief Operating Officer, and we couldn't be happier that he is here to help fulfill our goal of becoming Canada's fourth national wireless carrier," says Tony Lacavera, Chairman and CEO, WIND Mobile. "Given his impressive list of accomplishments during his time as COO, I know Gianluca will be a tremendous asset to the US$5.5 billion dollar fixed and mobile consumer business at Wind Telecomunicazioni. In the coming weeks we'll work together to ensure a smooth and seamless transition process."
