Nokia Siemens Networks to Acquire Assets from Nortel

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has agreed to purchase certain assets of Nortel in order to its in its research and development of next-generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks; the next step in 3G. The purchase price is US$650 million; and Export Development Canada (EDC), the government-owned export credit agency, is supporting the transaction with a US$300 million loan commitment.
